MHG Commercial Real Estate helps the Arizona Women’s Recover

 The Arizona Women’s Recovery Center (AWRC), formerly the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence has been helping families break the cycle of addiction for over 60 years in Central Phoenix. Long ago, being in the center of the city was the way to reach the most people. However, due to rapid growth and thick traffic having one location to meet all the needs of Phoenix is no longer feasible. 

It’s no surprise that our City is suffering from addiction, especially as Opioid use continues to be on the rise. Arizona matches the Nationally devastating statistics that are on the rise.  Opioid related deaths rose nationally last year by almost 6000% and this picture looks just as bleak in Maricopa County.  AWRC knew that to be able to combat this rise in addiction, that they would need to expand to a second location. 

Thanks to a grant for the down payment and a partnership with MHG Commercial, AWRC found its next home in West Phoenix off of 35th Avenue and Bethany Home Rd. AWRC specializes in gender-specific treatment for women, more specifically pregnant and parenting women. This is why the purchase of a property which was previously a daycare and charter school just made sense. 

The new location will provide ample, safe, and a fun space for moms to have a one stop shop for all their substance use and mental health needs. While their children will have a safe outdoor and indoor space to play and heal themselves. 

About AWRC

AWRC moves women beyond addiction and towards self- sufficiency. They focus on addiction, trauma, mental and physical health, GED tutoring and job training. The new West location will also offer food boxes and clothing, 12-step and recovery meetings, health fairs, and DUI education classes.
